Exquisite Kelly! The color scheme is gorgeous as well. Pulling together the birds in the silver pattern with the table linens is super attention to detail! IP: Logged |

Kelly --this is fabulous, and you clearly have a great design eye. I'm fascinated with the way you entertain -- these small, manageable get-togethers. I sometimes think that people in my community have expectations that are too great, so people maybe don't entertain as they once did because it all seems so daunting. Ex: instead of cocktails for 90 minutes, served with one or two simple hors d'oeuvres and a bowl of nuts, after which everyone goes home after a drink or two, people stage events with 'heavy hors d'oeuvres' that run to two and half hours before the last guest goes home. It ends up being a stand-up grazing supper party. What you do is elegant, and different, and not onerous. Can you tell us the circumstances of an 'impromptu' dessert with macaroons? IP: Logged |

Thank you seaduck for your kind words. I love to have people over for dessert or cocktails with simple hors d'oevres. I am not a big cook, so a dinner party would be a big effort. Therefore, I often meet friends for dinner and then we go back to my house for dessert. I often get a tart or pie and make fresh whipped cream to accompany it. I also am fond of making zabligione with berries as well. The impromptu coffee occured because a friend called up that day to go to dinner for the holidays and I said I would do dessert. I picked up macaroons on the way home and then decided on an Aesthetic silver theme for the table. I often pick a type of silver to feature for the event. My traditionally styled candelabra which is late 19th century English plate is always featured no matter the style of silver I use. Happy Holidays! Kelly IP: Logged |

Nautilusjv, Thanks for both of your posts on interestingly and beautiful table settings. I also like the background of a bookcase filled with appealing pictures and of course books. What will life be like when all we have is an electronic reader? IP: Logged |

Thanks ahwt for your kind words. I think I will try to stand firm against ever using an electronic reader. It seems so cold. There is nothing like a well read favorite book that one returns to over and over and it shows the traces of the reader's use. I guess when they stop making print books, there will always be used book stores. Happy Holidays! Kelly IP: Logged |
