This post does not really fit in any category and to be least intrusive I thought it might go here.

My wife collects tartanware items and recently brought this case with the silver lock. She thought that is a case for holding scissors, but even small scissors are too large to fit in the inside pockets. Any ideas as to what this case was used for?

As long as this thread is out of place I thought some spring flowers would be enjoyable. I cannot remember a better spring – cool nights and warm days and all the flowers are blooming early.

Oh wow! Look at those peonies!

It does look as though that case is made for something with a pair of finger rings, doesn't it? Measurements?

It is 2 inches by 5 3/4 inches. She thought it was for scissors, but even her smallest one it too wide.
There are three compartments and maybe it was for small jewelry items. The case can be locked (we do not have the key) and that may be an indication that is was for something valuable.

I do believe it may be for scissors. Here is one that might fit well.

An alternative, which doesn't feel right, is a hard crochet needle case.

Your blossoms look great.

My guess would be narrow scissors in the back and other small tools--sewing? manicure?--in the front slots.

I've seen a number of similar small scissor cases (the imprints of handles are visible in your lining) - most likely held a pair of small sewing scissors, buttonhole scissors or large embroidery, and a pair of small embroidery/lace scissors.

My wife found some smaller scissors and they fit perfectly. She is looking for some other sewing "things" to go in the other compartments.
Thanks for the help.
