What is the name of the Arts & Crafts pattern by Shreve & Co. which features, at the handle's top, decoration resembling their strapwork pieces (it looks like a pegged or riveted Gothic cross), and has an allover hammered surface? Is it "XIVth Century"? I think I've seen it called that before. How much should I expect to pay for a soup spoon in this pattern? Thanks, IP: Logged |

Yes, it is called 14th century. When first introduced in 1911, the pattern had a variety of different handle ends. In 1912, they cut back to just the cross form, and the pattern remained popular for some time. It is probably the most interesting, and most collectible, of the Shreve patterns. As for a fair price for a soup spoon, I'm probably not the best person to ask. Hope this helps! Brent IP: Logged |
