Scott and I came up with an idea to jump start participation in this forum. Listed below are a number of well known names in the world of 20th century silver. If you have items by any of these people or companies, or have information to share, we encourage you to submit something to this forum for all to learn from. If you have a mystery item that might be by one of these people, please feel free to post that as well. Pictures are desirable, but a good descripton is often good enough to get started. Let the fun begin! Addams, Jane IP: Logged |

Hello. Can anybody identify the designer of this Liberty & Co. beaker I picked up at a flea market:
And a more general question inspired by this new topic: a number of these Arts and Crafts makers, such as Liberty, Friedell, and Kalo, produced jewelry; how many of the other firms produced jewelry (and does anybody have any examples of which to post pictures)? Paul IP: Logged |

This is outside my area of interest, but I can at least say that Blanchard, Chicago Art Silver, Stone, and Erikson did as my mother has pieces by each. The Blanchard and Stone pieces were made on commission for my grandmother, but I have no idea if the others were stock goods or no. IP: Logged |

Paul, Liberty & Co. took great pains to keep their designers' identities under wraps. I read this in the book on Archibald Knox edited by Stephen A. Martin. So it may be tough to match a designer to your cup. And what a gorgeous cup it is. I take special interest in the "June" aspect. I would also love to see some photos of the jewelry you speak of. Here are a couple pictures of pieces of jewelry by Arts & Crafts makers. Unfortunately, I don't have as many examples as I'd like to...I guess that's the fun of the hunt.
(Sorry that some of the photos are poor, I bought two of these items from eBay and haven't gotten around to taking pictures of them myself) [This message has been edited by Paul Lemieux (edited 12-05-2000).] IP: Logged |

Paul, Please check out my earlier topics on Carl Poul Petersen and "Unknown Maker -Native American?". If you have anything to add to either topic, please do so. I guess my Native American piece is indeed Native American, as it has the same Hogan mark as your ladle! Carl Poul Petersen - The

Hi, Maybe this topic is already outdated, but I've just found your site & it seems to be the perfect forum for my question. How about "Sciarrotta"? He seems to have made very many silver arts & craft items. I bump into his pieces all the time at Antique Shows, etc. Can you tell me why he isn't written about in the Rainwater book? He seems to have manufactured for Black,Starr,Gorham also for Cartier & Bailey Banks & Biddle. Any information, anyone?
