Hi. I bought this pie server yesterday--can somebody identify the maker, who used a letter B turned 90 degrees clockwise? I saw three makers who used the letter B in the table given in Rainwater.
Thanks! IP: Logged |

I think that it is the spoonmaker, Charles Brown, and that the fact the B is turned sideways is incidental. The other two B's listed in Rainwater's table for Stone Associates are a chaser/designer, and a hollowware maker--so I think Brown is the best of the choices. IP: Logged |

I just noticed a fourth B--Geo Blanchard, also listed as a spoonmaker. Perhaps the B was turned sideways to distinguish between Blanchard & Brown? Any guesses as to which of the two B spoonmakers made this server? IP: Logged |

Ulysses & Paul are both correct. The sideways B is the craftsman mark of Charles W. Brown, spoonmaker, 1912-37. IP: Logged |
