myrneh unregistered	posted 02-19-2001 11:46 PM The marking was on a siver handle for a cane also marked STERLING. I have seen this marking on at least two silver handles and on two gold handles for canes. Unfortunately I no longer have this cane. As I recall, each letter was separate (they were not all on a single stamped mark) and they were all capital letters (pretty much as you see in the word sterling, above.
