Frederick J.R. Gyllenberg was a silversmith with the Handicraft Shop in Boston in the early 1900's. He subsequently went into partnership with Alfred H. Swanson. Below is Gyllenberg's mark. We found a beautiful bowl with this mark. We'd be curious to know what others have seen with this mark.

I have a fine lobed copper bowl by this craftsman as well as a spoon by he and his son. The bowl has the Handicraft Shop mark as well. I understand the correct pronunciation of his name is "Yulenberg". A European student of mine helped me with that bit of information.... I have come across and collected several of the Handicraft Shop craftsmen. IP: Logged |

We had an earlier thread dealing with Gyllenberg, titled mark ident., started by Vathek, last post 4/27/2000. As for pieces, I have seen some modernisitic silver with handles not unlike those on Russian kovsh. I have also seen nice Revere bowls by him. IP: Logged |

"Of all the things I have lost I miss my mind the most..." I hate it when I forget... The spoon I have is by Karl F. Leinonen and his son... I have no record of Gyllenberg and son ever working together...Leinonen, Forsen, Ek, Kunkler, Gebelein, Knight were only a few of the fine craftsmen and women who produced work out of the several locations of the Handicraft Shop.
