Shreve and Co. of San Francisco made quite a bit of silver in the Arts & Crafts aesthetic, although the amount of actual hand work involved is debatable. This California souvenir spoon is an interesting example of their work. It appears to be a standard piece of Shreve flatware modified to accept a stone arrowhead. I believe the arrowhead is authentic; the tail end of it is slightly broken off, and the spoon tip has been formed to match. Thin strips of silver hold the arrowhead in place. All in all, one of your more interesting souvenir spoons! IP: Logged |

Apparently the arrowhead motif was popular at some point in time late 1800's to early 1900's. We have seen a Shiebler pin in silver with sterling straps holding an arrowhead. IP: Logged |

A very interesting arrowhead spoon with an unusual story may be seen in the Souvenir Spoon Museum IP: Logged |

Regardless, the spoon mentioned is very interesting, as is the story. Thanks for posting! As an aside, I was leafing through an old catalog of an exhibition of Arts & Crafts metal work, and found a Shreve copper tray with arrowheads mounted along the rim.
