Does anyone know the maker's mark on this Arts & Crafts hammered spoon? The mark looks like AK and we were told the maker may be from the Boston area. There was an Arts and Crafts silversmith named Adolph Kunkler, but we have no other information on him to determine whether he could be the maker of this beautiful spoon.

June, I have it on good authority that this is in fact the mark of Adolph Kunkler. I own a bowl with the same engraved AK mark on it. I would love to own the spoon. (smile) Thanks for the image it is a wonderful example of this period work. I have just ordered my new computer and will send an image of the mark on the bowl when I get it set up at home. Thank you for the input, Fred. Dare I ask who or what the identification source is? I understand if this is too sensitive to answer. What period would you place this in? Was Kunkler from the Boston area? It sure is a nice little spoon and I was pleased to find it. [This message has been edited by June Martin (edited 11-29-2001).] IP: Logged |

Adolph Kunkler was one of the craftsmen who worked at the Handicraft Shop at the Boston Society of Arts and Crafts. I do not have the exact dates but do know it is within the first 20 years of the 20th Century.. I will get you dates when I get home and to my library. I have not seen the attribution in written form but believe those who have adviced me of such and you are right to be proud of ownership of such a fine spoon. I love this forum and others like it.
