neetstuff.com unregistered	posted 01-17-2002 12:50 PM Hello, I am new to the forum and am searching for an identity to an unknown mark. I believe this substantial sterling piece (2.5" across) to be from Norway, c.1910-1920 as evidenced by the "c" clasp. It has fabulous guilloche enameling behind a sunset of the ever popular sailboat (Viking ship)floating along the Baltic sea. The mark is a flower type with 925S underneath. Does anyone know who this mark stands for? Here are pics: Any info would be helpful! Thanks! Stacy IP: Logged

I think you are on the right track with your identification. 925S is often found on Norwegian silver. You can also find it on pieces from Denmark as well, though, as the Danish hallmarking system is not mandatory. I believe it might also be used on pieces imported to Denamrk or Norway. So... It may well be Norwegian, or it might not. I'm sure the flower stamp is a maker's mark, but I'm afraid I can't identify it readily. if we can, we will pin down the country of origin. Your dating sounds about right as well. I would say 1900 to 1950 would be my broadest date range. I'll let you know if come up with an ID on the maker. Sorry I couldn't help more right now. Paul Lemieux Posts: 1792 Registered: Apr 2000	posted 01-28-2002 10:54 PM Unfortunately, it might be kind of hard to track down the maker. There are numerous ones that are not listed in references. The brooch is definitely Norwegian. This particular kind of scenic jewelry was very popular, and was made in bracelets, brooches, cuff links, etc. I think your piece is from about 1920-1940.
