Here are excerpts from an email I recently received for an exhibit starting tomorrow in New York. How I wish I could be there. The Peer Smed candelabras are up for bid on Ebay Item # 850647803. The images of the sticks are well worth rhe look, even if you do not have the cash to bid on them. I hope someone is able to go and can give us a review. Anyone want to fly me up from Tucson to NY? ("MODERN SILVER IN AMERICA A rare collection of 20th Century American Silver never before exhibited publicly will be on display at The Lauren Stanley Gallery March 12 through April 27, 2002. In cooperation with the New York University conference "Sterling Modernities: International and American Silver from the Arts and Crafts Movement to the Present," March 14-16, 2002, Pieces by the most important makers in the United States in the 20th Century will be included. Among the makers represented are Adler, Blanchard, Colflesh, DeMatteo, Gorham, Heinrich, Jarvie, Kalo, Lebolt, Lebkuecher, Magnussen, Manfredi, Sciarotta, Smed, Stone, Tiffany, Vitali and Yotkov. The works of Constantine Maslennikov and Ken Wolf will also be introduced. Among the pieces to be displayed will be: A one-of-a-kind jewelry box by Arthur L. Barney for Tiffany & Co. Important examples by Erik Magnussen including a bon bon dish for Gorham Manufacturing featuring a stork motif highlighted by agates. Twelve of the dishes were made. An exceptionally rare pair of monumental three-arm Jack in the Pulpit pattern candelabra by Peer Smed. A four piece coffee and teaset with tray by Donald Colflesh for Gorham entitled "Circa 70." The set was produced in 1960 and the name implies a futuristic design ten years ahead of its time.") There are some disadvantages to living in the remoteness of Tucson, and it is not the weather.
