Two questions: Is S.P.C. another abbreviation for silverplate? I have a small bowl that has that as it's only marking. As is true with most of my other stuff, it would be circa 1953. Also, I have an "egg" with a cobalt-blue glass insert. I wouldn't call it silver in the traditional sense. It seems as if it has a coating that I would say is similar to silver leafing. It does show some light signs of tarnish (soft yellowish tint on cover, black in areas of heavy detailing) so I do believe the coating is silver of some sort. I wouldn't say that the "egg" is very good quality but it is VERY pretty and has a place of honor in my china hutch. It is from about 1953. The only marking on the bottom is P.N.C.W. Made in U.S.A. (the P could also be an F). Any ideas? IP: Logged |

About PNCW, I'm not sure, but "S.P.C." might stand for Silver Plated Copper. IP: Logged |
