Could you please give me information on the Jensen Pyramid pattern flatware. Specifically, when was it produced and is it still currently in production? I love Jensen silver and this pattern in particular. Any info would be very much appreciated. IP: Logged |

Harald Nielsen designed the Pryamid pattern in 1926 for the Georg Jensen silversmithy. It was inspired by the interest in Egyptian forms, aroused by the discovery of Tutankhamen's Tomb. It has been in continous production since 1926 and is quite popular today. Besides the familar place setting pieces one can look for salt & pepper shakers, candlesticks decanters and other objects for the table in this pattern. IP: Logged |

The Pyramid pattern stems from the Art Deco period but the simplicity can be related to functionalism of the 1930's. Harald Nielsen, (1892-1977) started his career with Georg Jensen when he was 14 years old. He was the brother of Georg's third wife Johanna Nielsen. After the death of Georg Jensen in 1935 Harald Nielsen carried on the tradition of artistic spirit and craftsmanship he learned from Georg Jensen. Nielsen became the artistic director of Georg Jensen. Janet Drucker IP: Logged |
