Hello All, I picked up this nice A&C Style bar spoon over the holidays. It was in the style of Arthur Stone, so I suspected a connection. The mark was new to me, though, as it appeared to read J.C.E. After a good polish, though, everything became clear. The mark is GCE, for George C. Erickson, one of the Stone factory workers who left to open his own company. According to Rainwater, Erickson purchased the business of David Carlson, another Stone alum who died around 1932. If Rainwater is to be trusted, Erickson used this particular mark only in 1932. This would explain why I had never seen it before. Anyway, here it is for future reference. All later Erickson silver is clearly marked ERICKSON, or some variation thereof. Brent, Perhaps you could get more detailed information or clarification as to the change of marks by Erickson, by contacting his grandson, Peter Erickson who continues to make sterling flatware, having learned from his grandfather. He is located in Gardner, Mass. He does very fine work. IP: Logged |

Hi middletom, Thank you for the tip. I had not thought of contacting him directly, but that would probably be the best way to go! Brent IP: Logged |
