The attached photos (I hope this works!) are just a sample of images of the work of Harold G. Stacey, the late Toronto silversmith. In the early 1950s, he was hired by Steuben glass to design and make prototypes of silver (and sometimes glass) objects to "go with" their glass/crystal products. The programme was cancelled in the spring of 1952 as not being economically feasible. But Stacey (with assistant Solve Holquist) had completed about 50 small items ranging from little dinner bells to an unexpected chalice. The objects went into storage at Steuben and were only found in the late 1980s in storage. They are now part (I hope) of the collection of the Corning Museum of Glass. IP: Logged |

The top items are a martini cup and shaker with top, both of sterling silver The bottom is a chalice of sterling and crystal. An unusual item in this collection, perhaps made in order to show what could be done on a larger scale. IP: Logged |
