Thought some of you might enjoy seeing this, "Melting Teapot" (2005) by Myra Mimlitsch-Gray. Made of formed silver, dimensions 7 1/2 x 18 1/4 x 7 1/2 in. It is in the collection of the Museum of Arts & Design in Manhattan (which is closed until September as it moves to Columbus Circle).

Hello Paul! What a cool looking pot! On the lighter side, it reminds me of a plastic plate my friend put in the dishwasher that came out looking like an abstract space ship. She thought it was so funny that she put it in her garage sale (just as a joke), & we almost fell over when it sold it for $2.00! Jersey IP: Logged |

Sort of reminds of the trompe l'oeil porcelain cups made to look like crumpled Dixie cups that I got at the MoMA store last time. When the museum re-opens in September, I plan to see this teapot and some of MAD's other great pieces of contemporary silver/jewelry that will be featured in the "Permanently MAD" exhibition which will show highlights of the permanent collection.
