Are there any good books on Ashbee and/or the Guild of Handicraft you can recommend? Especially with a lot of pictures and info. Does anyone here have any examples of their work you can post? Thanks! IP: Logged |

Alan Crawford wrote C. R. Ashbee Architect, Designer, and Romantic Socialist, published by Yale in 2005. I'll bet that's a good one. It's also apparently the only one currently in print. IP: Logged |

See also "Modern English Silverwork: an essay by C. R. Ashbee, together with a series of designs by the author..." in the new edition with introductory essays by Alan Crawford and Shirley Bury, published by B. Weinreb, London, 1974. The original version was published by Ashbee's Essex House Press in 1909. As well, "An arts and crafts experiment: the silverwork of C. R. Ashbee" by Shirley Bury, Victoria and Albert Museum Bulletin Reprint 7, reprinted from the "Bulletin", Vol. 111, No. 1, London, January 1967, pp. 18-25. IP: Logged |
