Hi and welcome to the forum. Please click on the link near the top of the page that says "Please Read Before You Post". You need to post some clear photos of both the overall bowl and closeups of the markings since without these nothing much can be said about any silver object with any certainty. Please also introduce yourself and share with us something about your interest in silver and this particular bowl and how you came by it. We all look forward to your participation in the forum! Hi, Sorry, I thought my description of the Hallmark was enough. Here are pictures of the bowl It is 2 1/4 inches deep and 6 1/2 inches across.
I found it at an Estate Sale. IP: Logged |

I'm not sure and hopefully someone will know for sure, but my initial thought is that it is a bowl made by silversmith working alone or in a small shop rather than a production item, and that it is 20th century in age (it is always hard to tell much about the age on hand-made objects since the process hasn't changed much over the centuries). My 20th century thought is based on the wording and style of the markings. There was a Florence Hollingsworth working out of Massachusetts in the mid-20th century and later and perhaps this might be one of her bowls, but that is just a guess. IP: Logged |
