Hi, My 4" long butter spreader has the hallmark "Stone" on it, with the cross of the "t" made by a candle snuffer, the bell of which precedes the "S" of Stone. Sterling appears after the word stone. An indistinguishable shield appears under the words. There is a squirrel in relief on the handle. Any idea who made this lovely piece? Thanks, IP: Logged |

Your butter knife was made by Aurther J. Stone. In order to date it properly the mark needs to bee seen as there are slight changes from year to year. The sheild would hold the artists mark to figure out which artist made your item. Hope that helps. Try searching other Aurther J. Stone items to see if you can find a match to your mark. IP: Logged |
