[01-2492] I wish to post this picture of a silver garden trowel that was commissioned by the owner of our company. He wanted to take it to a garden party he was going to and apparently wanted to make a splash. The focal depth on my camera was messed up at the time, so the image is a bit fuzzy. The handle is made from cocabola wood from South America.

I am sure we would all like to see some closeups of it, including the maker's markings would be very interesting. By the way, the wood you are thinking of is cocobolo - note it is spelled with four o's and no a's. Cocobolo is a type of rosewood that grows in Central America and it is a very beautiful wood, so long as you are not the one who has to shape into things. The sawdust from it can be pretty toxic and cause skin rashes or nasty allergic reactions if it is inhaled. Once it is shaped into something and has a coat of varnish or other sealant on it there is no problem though. IP: Logged |
