Friedell was truly great and is one of our favorites. His repousse work was stellar, from his ornate monos to beautiful floral ornamentation. But here's an unusual Friedell piece -- a child's cup with an insect chasing some sort of terrified sprite. The stuff of childhood nightmares.

I love to see a piece of silver with a sense of humor! I've actually always wanted a piece of Clemens Friedell's with a great monogram. Funny, nothing like this cup ever came to mind! IP: Logged |
