I've owned this 1980s spoon for several years, set with lapis and ivory, it was made by E. Austin Goodwin (b.1930, d.2023), long-time professor and chairman of Fine Arts at Kean College of New Jersey. A near identical piece was shown in a 1980s art textbook, his fantasy chess set as well, and a snuffer is shown in a 2001 ad for the shop he and his wife owned. ~Cheryl

Wow, that's fascinating, Cheryl. I grew up a stone's throw from Kean College (now University) & had no idea there was even a Fine Arts Department. Thanks for sharing. IP: Logged |
