I find no notice of a Dufeu; is the name possibly Dufen? The 1859 Kentucky State Business Directory lists a Charles F. Dufen as a manufacturer of wholesale jewelry and silverware in Maysville. The Maysville census of 1860 notes Charles F. Dufen as age 28, watchmaker and silversmith, owner of $2000 in property. IP: Logged |

There is a Charles F Dufeu who was born on the Island of Guernsey in about 1832 and immigrated to the United States in 1855. He is in the 1860 U S Federal Census for Maysville, Kentucky and in the 1870 and 1880 U S Federal Census's for Chillicothe, Ohio as a jeweler and watchmaker. There are at least a couple mentions of Charles F Dufeu in the Jeweler's Circulars which can be easily searched on Google books with the keywords "jeweler Dufeu." Charles F Dufeu and his son Walter who was also a jeweler and was born in Kentucky are both in the 1900 and 1910 and possibly IP: Logged |
