While i am thinking about it: A while back I encountered some coin silver spoons with nice intaglio marks for two different partnerships. Strangely, they also had nice intaglio MILWAUKEE stamps. Wisconsin silversmiths have never been studied, as far as I know, so I thought Jones & Baker I would be very interested in hearing from anyone with coin silver bearing these marks. I would also be interested in any silver marked A.B. Van Cott with Wisconsin associations (see Wanted to Buy). IP: Logged |

So many makers, so little time! I don't have any notes of Rood & Goodrich proper, but I do have a family line of Roods in Wisconsin in my makers tree. Anson Rood came out of Litchfield CT and was in the Grand Marsh area by 1830 or so. I have no idea at this point what his business was, but he would certainly have the right ancestoral qualifications for silverwork. Among others, he is related to Marcus Merriman, Allyn Goodwin, Eliakim Hitchcock and the Gorhams various. So far I haven't any lines of Goorich outside CT/MA, so will have to do some digging and see if they made the move as well. IP: Logged |

In 1854 Rood & Goodrich's store underneath the United States Hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin was a total loss due to a fire. [This message has been edited by bascall (edited 08-16-2008).] IP: Logged |
