I have a lovely set of sugar tongs, 6 1/2 " long. There was a Piggott in Savannah Ga, but I doubt if this was his mark. Any ideas as to when, where? IP: Logged |

There is a Samuel Piggott in New York City Directories from 1820 to 1850 who was a watchmaker. In the 1850 U S Federal Census, there is a Samuel Piggot who was born in New York in about 1797 and is listed with his wife Euphemia in New York City. His occupation at that time was watchmaker. In 1860, he and wife Euphemia are shown in the U S Federal Census in Fayette County, Virginia which looks like it is in West Virginia now. At that time, Samuel was listed as a merchant. It is unknown to me how far South Samuel went in his travels, but in 1880 he was back in New York City with Euphemia and retired.
