I have a couple of fiddle back early 1800s spoons marked W.PITKIN and L.M.& A.C. ROOT in separate rectangles. I am trying to determine who actually made these. Turns out there are several combinations of Pitkin's, and other maker's marked on Pitkins spoons according to my references. I have determined that the distance from Root's location and one location given for Pitkin is 83 miles, altho they are in different states. The proximity might explain how Pitkin and Root might have done a transaction of some kind. Has anybody untangled any of these double marks? Incidentally none of several references I have which mention LM & AC Root tell what LM and AC stand for. IP: Logged |
