There are two jewelers who are within a couple of years of each other in age, Jacob & Martin Klein at 272 Mulberry in the 1891 Newark, New Jersey. Unfortunately, the name of their business at that address is not given.

Klein & Brother were active in VICKSBURG, MISSISSIPPI. John Klein moved from Leesburg, VA to Vicksburg MS about 1836. He partnered with S. H. Wilson as WILSON & KLEIN from about 1842-49, then with former Georgian John Lampkin about 1850. He worked with his brother in partnership for only about a year ca. 1854. Hope this helps!

In the 1850 U S Federal Census for Vicksburg, Mississippi, 37 year old Virginia born John A Klein is with 21 year old Georgia born James Lampkin. Both are jewelers.

The Klein & Bro partnership must be the New Jersey pair. There's no sign of a brother with John A Klein in Vicksburg, Mississippi. His brothers while very successful each in their own right seem to have each gone their own way. Evidence to the contrary is more than welcome.

No, this is Vicksburg, MS. The examples are from the 1850s, not the 1890s.

After reading a bit about the brothers, nothing came up about any of them being jewelers other than John. No doubt I've missed something, so thank you Fitzhugh.

PS, the partnership advertised in Vicksburg only in 1854.

Brother Julius Nelson was the other jeweler (or at least one of them). I didn't read far enough. He was born 29 May 1828 in Virginia. He is listed in the U S Federal Census's for Vicksburg, Mississippi as a jeweler in 1860 and 1870.
