There is a Sylverster Pence who was born in Virginia in about 1814 and who is listed in the 1850 U S Federal Census for Halifax County Virginia as a jeweller. Sylvester is not to be found in my copy of Cutten. Sylverster is listed as a silversmith in the 1870 U S Federal Census for Lynchburg, Virginia. This gentleman's name can be found in at least a few places currently on the internet, but some of those pages may not be around long enough to help much a year from now, and search terms seem to me to be terribly random.
