At the NYSS dinner Amy Daniel gave me her business card. On the card she had drawn Star M Anchor. The note indicated the mark was on a piece of holloware. The mark looks familiar but off the top of my head, nothing comes to mind. Anyone out there with total recall who knows who's mark this is?

Scott, I just came across the mark on pg. 30 of Belden. It's mark "b" for Akerly & Briggs of N.Y.,NY. IP: Logged |

Blast! I knew the mark, but couldn't place it and that is sure not where I would have looked. I would really like to hear from Winterthur about how that mark is connected to that partnership; it's not shown in Darling. [This message has been edited by wev (edited 03-30-2002).] IP: Logged |

REB - good find! WEV, It doesn't make any sense to me either but there it is in black & white. I did come across the additions and corrections supplement to Darling which shows the following: It appears the above is an addition. IP: Logged |

Hi there folks, According to Mr. John R. McGrew, "Star M Anchor is John Chandler Moore (maker) NYC, and found so far on 3 other makers and retailers pieces: Akerly & Briggs, L. Anrick, and J & I Cox. Now I know that this is 1990's research, but this is Mr. McGrew does best. If we pester him enough, maybe he will publish his work, "3 and 4 part Pictorial House Marks". Marc Cutcher IP: Logged |
