Hello All, Trefid sends along these coin silver trademarks, often called "Pseudo-hallmarks", which we have been unable to ascribe to a particular maker. Does anyone have other pieces with these marks, or any idea whose they might have been? I believe that we had an earlier thread that tentatively ascribed mark 6 to Morgan Morgans, the little known entity who bought out Albert Coles. These marks were found on: Thanks for any help you can provide! Brent [This message has been edited by Brent (edited 06-18-2002).] IP: Logged |

Hi there Brent, If anyone knows of these marks it is my good friend John R. McGrew.. That is unless Trefid is Mr. McGrew. If they are different entities get in touch with me and I will provide you with Mr. McGrew's phone #. The latest information I have from him is in his "3 and 4 part Pictoial House Marks", but this work dates from 1992. Marc Cutcher IP: Logged |

Is it me, or does #4 look suspiciously similar to Gorham's trademark (except for the "H" of course)? And if the pattern is similar to a Gorham pattern...perhaps this mark designates a special relationship between Gorham and some retailer? IP: Logged |
