I ran across this label on ebay; it is inside a leather pen or spectacle case.
I assume this is Jabez Gorham or his son John, but I don't remember any mention of this partnership in references. Can anyone identify Mr. Brown or give us any other information? IP: Logged |

Hi, wev. Charles Carpenter indicates in his book on Gorham that Gorham, Co. & Brown was an outlet for Gorham silverwares plus other luxury items. It was founded in 1856 by John Gorham, Gorham Thurber and Henry T. Brown. Brown ran the store. IP: Logged |

The following is from an ad in the Friday June, 24, 1874 Newport Daily News: Specialties, Direct Importations From London and Paris, Fans and Fan Chatelaines, Rain And Sun Umbrellas for Gentlemen, Girdle Bags For Ladies, Carriage Card Cases, Belts for ladies in Russian and Morroco, Goods Will Be Forwarded On Approbation.
