Any thoughts on who made this little spoon? The mark is very poor but the last initial seems to be an R. Thanks, you've been very helpful so far. IP: Logged |

A nice example of early 18th century spoon. Can you give us the dimensions of the spoon? I own a similar spoon of only 3 1/8" length also with a ratail. My guess is that it could be English. Some of the very small items did not carry all hallmarks. My spoon is struck with an EB in an oval. Your spoon could have as many as three letters and the last looks like an R or B. I am unfamiliar with any American smiths with a similar mark of the period of this spoon. IP: Logged |
