My father has coin silver teaspoons marked M B Alleback and we are trying to find where this silversmith was located. Any info would be greatly appreciated! IP: Logged |

I don't find any makers by that name; he may have been a retailer. Perhaps if you could post a picture of one, we could get a hint at location from the teaspoon's form. IP: Logged |

Best I can find is an M Alleback who was born in New York in 1830 and is listed as a merchant in New Orleans, LA in the 1870 U. S. Federal census. IP: Logged |

There was also a Michael Allebach in Mahanoy, Pennsylvania in the 1870 U S Federal who was a jeweler and whose real and personal estate indicated he was probably moderately successful. IP: Logged |

This is my final answer, Mahlon Boyer Allebach who was born about 1829 in Pennsylvania (likely Middleport) and died 21 January 1901. Most of his years in business were in Philadelphia as a jeweler, silversmith, dealer in jewelry and watchmaker. IP: Logged |
