I know this was retailed by E.A.Tyler but I don't recognize the maker's mark. It looks like S?J the center letter could by an H. Does anyone know this one?

The SHJ stands for Samuel H. Johnson of New York City. He worked in various partnerships, and his main output seems to have been flatware (see Rainwater for details). A number of early coin silver patterns can be traced to him, but you don't see his trademark all that often. Nice to see it here!

Thanks, I for some bizarre reason I don't like that type of mark, I never would have though of Rainwater.
But shouldn't you be working on my A&C postings?

Something possibly worth mentioning about E A Tyler is that he is listed at 110 Canal Street with the watchmaker Edward Lilienthal
in the 1858 New Orleans city directory.
