There is an interesting piece by Asa Blanchard now up on eBay (2541939525). I have only seem one other similar piece, a coffin end by Ebenezer Moulton in the Boston Museum collection that Kathryn Buhler calls a toddy spoon, a term she admits she has never seen in inventories.
Opinions, anyone? IP: Logged |

Apothecary spoon was the term I suggested, for reaching into apothecary jars or vials to retrieve medicines or chemicals. It could have a measured capacity for mixing or dosing. It seems too long and flimsy for much else. I have seen condiment spoons/ladles with more or less elongate bowls, but they are bent at the junction of the stem and bowl. How would a toddy spoon be used, anyway? IP: Logged |
