I saw a coin punch ladle at an auction last weekend that had a maker name that I have been unable to identify. The mark was LARMOUR, contained in a rectangle. The ladle was bright cut. Any information would be appreciated. IP: Logged |

I've read that Larmour was a retailer in Baltimore-- sold Krider and others. IP: Logged |

I should have mentioned too that I have some Gorham Louis IV flatware pieces (introduced 1870) with that retailer's name on them. IP: Logged |

Yesterday there were put up four teaspoons marked LARMOUR (incised in an arch) above BALT (also incised). There is also the 10.15 standard mark for coin silver, which was used between 1830 and 1860, according to Patrick Duggin's chapter on Baltimore marks in Silver in Maryland. This mark is shown in the same book for Wm. B. Larmour, who is listed as a watchmaker and jeweler working from 1850 - 70. These spoons must therefore have been made between 1850 and 1860. Just the slightest bit of further information on William B Larmour, watchmaker and jeweler. He is found in the company of William Brown, watchmaker and jeweler, in the 1850 U S Federal Census for Baltimore, Maryland; both were born in Ireland. IP: Logged |

Swarter, the listing you included has been removed for whatever reason. IP: Logged |

As with many of my replies, this is an old post. IP: Logged |
