Thank you, Scott; I had not seen the last one. Now, if only I could trace out the fellow's life. I suspect he is related to the historian William Jewett Tenney, but have not been able to find anything on his family line. IP: Logged |

There is a Tenney Family web site. On the site they mention:

I can add an additional mark
and some information I received from the Tenney Family Association: William Ingalls Tenney was born Feb 22, 1806 in Newburyport, MA to Richard and Ruth (Ingalls) Tenney. He died in NY on April 6, 1848. His brother and partner, Daniel Ingalls, was born May 2, 1800 and died at the Metropolitan Hotel in NY on Nov 23, 1881. After William's early death, Daniel continued the business from their shop at 251 Broadway. IP: Logged |

WEV, Thanks you for the additional W.I.T. mark. It is one I had not seen. Also thanks for following through with the Tenney Family Association. Besides William and Daniel did the Tenney Family Association indicate if there were any other smiths in the family? IP: Logged |

Beldon notes a watchmaker and jeweler, R. Tenney, working nearby the shop of William and Daniel. He may have been a cousin; I have sent a query to the Association and will let you know what they say. IP: Logged |
