I hope someone can shed some light on the meaning of an inscription on my 1855 Missouri Fair Premium Cup. It is marked St. Louis COIN, but has no maker's mark. Other than the date, it is inscribed "Billy Benight" and has the abbreviation B.A.H.V.M.S. I can't start to decipher this. HELP!!! IP: Logged |

Possibilities for some of the letters in the abbreviation-- Agriculture, agricultural, horticulture, horticultural, veterinary medicine, society Just guesses. Perhaps they are a place to start, though. [This message has been edited by Paul Lemieux (edited 06-12-2004).] IP: Logged |

There were several Benight (Bennight) family lines in Crawford County MO throughout the 19th century. IP: Logged |

Could we get a picture of the engraving and the piece overall? IP: Logged |
