I'm new at this but in trying to find something like the item my Mom gave me I found you. It is marked coin silver and has another small mark too small to identify. It has a fork at one end and a spoon at the other. It's very, very old.
Does anyone know if this could be a sucket fork? It's about 12 inches long. Thanks.

If the "coin silver" mark is original, your piece was made no earlier than the mid 19th Century. True sucket forks are 17th Century forms, and were about half the size of yours.

A picture would be necessary for any further information.

Thank you for the information. I'll try to get a photo to post so I can get more information on this unusual item.

At 12 inches long, it certainly sounds like a combination olive spoon / olive pick. There were quite a few of these made in the late coin period (1850-1870), and if it is marked COIN it likely dates from this period. The little mark is probably the manufacturer's trademark.

Hope this helps!
