I have 2 spoons marked S.R. Biesenthal. I've looked through all of my silver books and did a search of all the forums but find no reference. Can anyone give me any info about this name? Thanks for looking! pammy IP: Logged |

Soloman Ralph Biesenthal was born in Prussia about 1824. He is first listed in Louisville KY directries in 1859 as a jeweler and watchmaker and was so listed until 1899. IP: Logged |

Indications are that Biesenthal a jeweler immigrated from Poland through the City of New York with his wife Rosalie and his daughter Julia on 24 August 1848. He appears with his family which by then includes a son named Raphiel in the 1850 U S Federal Census in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio and is listed as a jeweler and watchmaker. Mr Biesenthal passed away in Louisville, Kentucky on 16 June 1903. His wife Rosalie passed away, also in Louisville, Kentucky, on 12 September 1907.
