If any of our members has a Mississippi reference, I would appreciate any details of the career of the jeweler William Adriance, son of the silversmith Charles Platt Adriance. IP: Logged |

From Nineteenth-century Silver in Natchez by H. Parrott Bacot and Bethany B. Lambden, Antiques, March 1971:
quote: They state that William was active in Natchez from 1834 - 1841. [This message has been edited by swarter (edited 12-25-2004).] IP: Logged |

It may be of some interest that the William Adriance in this topic appears to have resided in St Louis, Missouri at least between 1850 and 1860. He is listed there as a merchant and includes fancy goods amongst his stock. Family members list his children Stewart Winchester and Mary E Adriance as being born in St Louis. William is in two U. S. Federal Census's in St Louis and also in Kennedy's 1860 St Louis City Directory. [This message has been edited by bascall (edited 11-23-2007).] IP: Logged |
