In the post Gorham Co. v. White -- "The Cottage infringement" you will see the two patterns that caused Gorham to take White to court for patent infringement. In all our years, we have never had anyone confuse the “Cottage” pattern with the White pattern. On the other hand, almost anytime we ask for “Union” by Wendt the seller hands us a piece of “Gibney”. Below are the patent drawings for the patterns “Gibney” and “Union”. “Union” and “Gibney” were patented during the same period as the Gorham & White patents but I am not aware of any legal issues/actions between Gibney and Wendt. Are you? The “Gibney” pattern was eventually acquired by and marketed by Whiting.
