this large spoon has an inticate pattern at the top of the handle - a basket full of flowers with leaves hanging down. on the reverse side there is a stamp with the name "H. Porter & Co." I would appreciate any more information you could provide IP: Logged |

Henry Chester Porter was born in Hartford CT on 9 June 1797. He married Sarah Cleveland Dodge in New York City on 15 September 1824. She was the neice of the silversmiths William and Aaron Porter Cleveland. He is first documented in New York City in 1820; by 1830, he had adopted the H. (sometimes H. C.) Porter & Co. mark. He died in Elizabeth NJ on 19 Jul 1865. IP: Logged |
