I need some help identifying some makers on coin spoons that I have. 1. A Sawyer, contained in a serrated rectangle. 2. Gray & Libby-looks like a retailer mark. Any help would be appreciated. IP: Logged |

An Amos Sawyer worked in the 1840s in Salem MA; he is listed in the 1849 New England Mercantile Union Business Directory as a jeweler. See here for William Henry Gray and here for Edward Watson Libby IP: Logged |

There is an Amos Sawyer in the 1850 U S Federal Census for Salem, Massachusetts who was born about 1775 in New Hampshire. The photocopy of the original census shows his occupation as a goldsmith. [This message has been edited by bascall (edited 06-23-2009).] IP: Logged |
