These pictures are of a cutout or pierced tongs marked DG or DC. No other marks are on this piece. The mark is placed right below the point where the leg joins the spring or body portion. The only American I can find with the initials DG is David Greenleaf, Jr., but his mark is shown in a serrated rectangle in Robert Green's book. I can find no reference to any other DG or DC in any book. I actually think that the second letter is a G with part of the letter worn away. The tongs are engraved with very attractive letters AM and a last letter that I cannot make out. Are there any other countries where only initials are used? I sometimes wonder why I buy so many sugar tongs as I actually like tea without sugar. IP: Logged |

It is not uncommon for British or Irish sugar tongs to only have a makers mark on them as well. Not ringing a bell with me in terms of the maker, but perhaps a reposting to the British/Irish Forum might generate a response. IP: Logged |
