Hello all,

Here is a little unknown for us all. The spoon, though distressed, appears to be an authentic 18th C example. By style and size I would place in in the 1770s, and it could well be American. The mark is SG in a rectangle, with some sort of rubbed device between. Has anyone seen this mark before, or have any ideas for attribution?

Anothe bump from the past. This mark continues to elude me. I still think 1770 is about right, and, based on the shell back, probably New England. There don't seem to be any Massachusetts SG's that were around in 1770; Samuel Glover and Samuel Gray II were both dead by 1762. Any ideas?

It is a downturned handle and the midrib is short. As the midrib is fairly short I would think that it would date a bit later than the 1770 date perhaps 1780's. No bright cutting could extend that time period back a bit but then if it is English then I have no idea. Once again it is just my own opinion
