[26-0643] This is in response to ahwt's post about the coffin spoon with "wriggle work." I acquired a spoon with that sort of decoration recently: I'd love the mark to be "I pellet B", but I'm not sure if it's really a B. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance! IP: Logged |

I•B is a fair assumption from what I see in your image. The mark resembles one (see here) used c 1800-1810 by John Burger in New York City -- it has the same oddly shaped lower bowl of the B. [This message has been edited by wev (edited 09-03-2005).] IP: Logged |

John Burger was just the person I had in mind; this spoon's design is very reminiscent of another I have by him. Thank you very much, wev! IP: Logged |
