Destin, The only reference I can find of S G Bridges is that he was a jeweler from Keokuk, Iowa in 1862. Thanks, Tad IP: Logged |

In 1860 Samuel G and his brother Braynard Bridges are jewellers in Keokuk, IA. Both were born in Massachusetts. In 1870 Samuel is still in the jewelry (and watches and clocks) business. By 1880, Samuel has become a contractor, and Braynard is a travelling pedlar of drugs. The "legal" type no doubt. There is a book titled "William Worth Belknap" "An American Disgrace" that may explain Samuel's shift to contracting (material for tombstones apparently). Belknap was an Grant's Secretary of War. Not much to go on, but it may put on little flesh on the old fellows bones for a time. IP: Logged |

In the 1855 & 1856 Boston City Directories Samuel G Bridges is at the same business address as Sylvester S Crosby in Boston, 69 Washington. Bridges' occupation is not given in either directory, but Crosby is listed as a watchmaker in both. IP: Logged |
