OK... Haven't added anything for a while, so I though this might be kinda fun...
As you can see the mark has Hatchwork background, and an odd form of an Eagle...

I agree, this spoon is too early for him, its style suggests 1820s to 1840s, and he wasn't born until the late 1850's... I remember a thread that discussed textured fields in the makers mark, but I don't remember if the Hatched texture was depicted along with the others...? I will run a search and see what I can find… I am wondering if the textured dies were determined to be a localized effect by specific die makers... Does anyone else have any thoughts or suspects? It is an impressive mark and a bit out of scale for the item being marked. I have no information on the maker. sorry. Fred IP: Logged |
