Lots of familiar names on that list. James Durand (Asher's nephew) would become a major jewelry manufacturer in Newark; and Mr. Terrell would work for Baldwin & Co. making engine-turned gold watch cases. Alling became a prominent jeweler as well. Did I miss a reference here? Was this part of another discussion? IP: Logged |

Not really; just seeing if anyone was paying attention. I have been transcribing a handful of city directories for the past few days -- much more pleasant than actual work and gives us a nice snapshot of a place in time or, as with the 1835 and 1840 Newarks, a contrast between two. IP: Logged |
